From a historic classic to a modern classic. Just as the US Army progressed from the war winning M4 Sherman tank to the M1 Abrams, Veteran is moving on from the classic Veteran Sherman to their next game-changer in the EUC battles - the brand new Veteran Abrams. Known for combining incredible performance and build quality while pushing safety to the forefront, Leaperkim is once again telling the other players to get out of the way.

While it’s yet to be determined if the Veteran Sherman is officially retired, there are so many reasons to move on with your life and get on an Abrams. After listening to the EUC community, Veteran has given us all kinds of goodies that have long been awaited. Tires, pedals, batteries, water ratings, fast charging, MOSFETS! Let’s breakdown why you need a Veteran Abrams in your life.

  • Power: A whopping 3500W motor that is 1000W greater than on the Sherman. With the Abrams having a 22” tire, this huge power upgrade makes sure you still have even more torque available than on the Sherman.
  • Speed: With a top free spin speed of 100km/h, we can reasonably look at a top speed of in excess of 70km/h, and probably up around 80km/h.
  • Range: Sure sure it’s a little less than the Sherman provided, but seriously, you still get around 130km of real-world range.
  • Battery: 2700Wh made up of Samsung 21700 50E cells. A little smaller than the Sherman, but the introduction of the 21700 cells means true fast charging is now supported.
  • Tire: 22” inches of knobby glory is yours out of the box. And - it’s tubeless so you’ll have less chance of flats and can lower your PSI for a more customizable ride. This is the first time this configuration appears on any EUC.
  • IP65 Rating: A sealed bearing ring and waterproof connectors means wet weather doesn’t shorten your riding season. And don’t sleep on the dust rating either. Stop worrying about dust ingress to key components after days of hard trail riding.
  • Pedals: Sitting an inch higher than the Sherman, the Abrams oversized pedals will give you that extra clearance you’ve been looking for. Plus, out of the box you get not just studded, but spiked pedals for extra grip.
  • Fast Charging: Capable of 12A or 15A charging means you can safely pump your wheel full of juice in just a few hours. This is one of the key benefits of moving to the larger 21700 50E battery cells.

The Abrams comes with some smaller, yet very significant, electronic upgrades over both the Sherman and other wheels. Moving to a 12 MOSFET controller allows for easier heat dissipation and less chance of cutout due to overheating. Electrical connectors have been customized to be ultra-stable to prevent loose connections during rough terrain riding. The twin battery packs are completely sealed and are easy to access from side panels. When combining the modular batteries with easier accessibility to the motor and pillar connectors, the Abrams looks to be making any needed maintenance as easy as possible.

Other features will include an ultra-bright 2500 lumen 25W headlight that is both angle and brightness adjustable. Rear automatic turn signals. The sturdy trolley handle from the Sherman. Classic Leaperkim rollbars. A top-mounted LCD panel displaying speed, battery voltage, mileage, battery level. A BMS preventing overcharging, overdischarging & short circuits. Plus a low battery alarm at 75.6V and tilt back at 74.5V.

Veteran has given you every reason to become an electric unicycle army of one. Storm the electric future on a Veteran Abrams.

Due to US insurance requirements, all US based customers are required to sign a product liability waiver before shipment of any personal electric vehicle.

I get it now

Ok, this was mostly a matter of getting used to this beast. I get it now.

Once I found my stance (after 700 km, now over 1000), the knees didn't hurt anymore. I must've moved my Grizzla pads a hundred times, but I found the right setup. And once I did... oh wow.

Put a Sherman seat on it, with a slice of yoga brick, and this wheel was made to be ridden seated. Finally learned to do it while moving, which is awesome. Easiest wheel to learn that skill on. Now I can pretty much sit anywhere. The huge tire along with a seat cushions the ride quite a bit, even on broken down roads. More like asphalt trails. But it's comfy.

Once seated, you can push this wheel quite a bit more. Riding consistently between 55-60 kph, it rarely beeps above 40% battery. Standing up and the power is more limited. At those speeds, my range increased from 50 to 60-65 km (I weight 200 lbs).

Today it was -6C (-10C with the wind factor), and I did 55 km, came home to charge (at 15A!!!), and then went out again it's such fun. Love carving while seated, best experience on a unicycle to date!

P.S. They fixed the firmware for seated+Strong mode!
In the OG and the Max, with their latest respective firmwares, I had to switch to Medium. In Strong mode, it would vibrate back and forth which was a drag. The Abrams is stable in Strong mode while seated.

A good wheel, but...

Got my Abrams a few hundred km ago. Good wheel, but mixed feelings. It's really wide, much more than expected. There's like this big bulge just below my knees, took me a while to develop a stance for it. Less torquey than the Max by a long shot, rides more like the OG: takes a while to get it going, but then it does go.

Slightly less powerful than the Sherman Max (or the OG), because of its 6p battery of course. It does beep earlier. But it's still a Veteran, and rides like one. It's actually becoming fun to ride for me. My first time on a diameter greater than 20", and it's something else. It rides very differently, giving you the impression that you can go anywhere with it, but then the weight catches up with you. Every ride is a full body workout!

Minuses: width, weight, range, 6p battery
Pluses: fun factor, solid build, IP rating, 15A charging.

It's alright...

I have put about 550kms on it now and it seems to want to pull to the right, the tire when you look at it is clearly off center a little bit. I thought it was just because I was new at first but it's constantly wobbly under power and pulls to the right. Not able to go over 50kmh without a death wobble and almost tosses me right off the machine. Not sure what is going on..

The Abrams, good and bad

What I love about the Abrams:
1. Specifically, the wheel stability at moderate to high speeds. With the Abrams I want to go longer, faster, and more steep.
2. No wobble,
3. water proofing of the motherboard
4. Great efficiency, distance on one charge approaches that of the Sherman.
5. Tubeless tire. Easy flat fix in minutes (on trails). I carry a small pump and a flat-fix kit (automotive).
6. Ideal for seated riding
7.Easy tire replacement, best of any current EUC.
8.With the 3.5kW motor and enormous heat sink the wheel stays cool on long incline rides. No fan, you just hear the grunt of the motor elevating you to the top of a mountain. Incredible, this is not a toy anymore.

What I don't like:
1.After the initial batch, drivers reported cut-outs, veteran fixed it by a firmware update. Essentially, they made STRONG mode like the medium mode. I lost the most favorite feature of the wheel, the insane torque availability (accessibility of torque) it originally had.
2. With the software update they also introduced pedal dipping.
3. You have to add silicone to motor wires where they enter the motor assembly.

Other facts:
1. This wheel is for 6ft + tall riders.
2. This wheel is about 95lb. therefore, is for 200lb + riders.
3.You have to put good pads on the wheel, the factory pads are a junk.

I absolutely love the Abrams, The torque is still there but you have to work to access it. My riding is predominantly on road and maintained trails. I am hoping that veteran will supply another update to fix the pedal dipping. I have about 350miles on it and no issues with the bearings. The ride/feel is so good that I will give it 5 stars and deal with the slight pedal dip till the update comes up.

Wow !

To be fair, this is my "quick review" as I'm sure many are floating over the "add to cart" button. Well read this review
Thankfully we have Eevees local in Vancouver so I was lucky enough to be able to take a couple wheels for a spin. After a long ride on a "Sherman type" wheel, I thought I was sold on it. Loved it, 3 hr ride up to 50km/hr thru Vancouver and ready to hand over my wallet. However to be fair I had to try the Abrams. So Lucas set me up on the big abrams. As I left the store on I thought that it was to big(I'm 5'10), no way this is my wheel I should go back and get the Sherman size. 15 min in, I thought this is smooth but to big. 30 min in, I loved the power and it was like riding on a cloud, yet still it was to big. Then I realized I was late for a meeting and had to get to eevees super quick and get my wheel back and go. That's when I fell in love. Once I got out of my head that it was to big and just focused on all the traffic and people and this amazing wheel, we became one ;) First it's incredibly smooth on the rough Vancouver roads. I would argue smoother than a couple suspension wheels I've ridden. Second, you can carve thru traffic and bike lanes with ease. The 22" and 96lbs really becomes one with you. Coming from a powerful smaller wheel it's still quick and agile, while remembering it's 96lbs ;) . I left eevees on my little wheel and headed to my appointment.
I couldn't sleep that night. How could this wheel be so much fun. I just wanted to travel back to Vancouver from the island and buy it in the morning. I thought for sure the Sherman size was my wheel. The speed tho, the reviews by Bradley and Lucas where correct. You don't feel 50km/hr. Bumps don't give you wobbles at all.
Then theres the sitting. Wow, couldn't get there on my previous wheels due to no seat and lack of comfort while riding. This wheel is amazing. Once that big wheel is spinning it's so solid. Seated riding should be a big selling feature.
Now the question. Beginners. I would safety say prob no. If your a quick learner and want to wrap it in foam for a while, then sure. Will you have fun, not for a little bit. Bigger taller riders could be excluded from this. You want to know how to handle a wheel before trying to manage 96 lbs or it's going to take you out, of your ankles. As for anyone on thier second wheel and tossing it up about the Abrams, buy it ! I'm at 50 km since I got it yesterday at 4. Skipped work early just to go ride more. Writing this on the floor in incredible back pain and can't move yet trying to convince my wife it will be better soon and to let me go for another ride.
As for the 2700 watt hr battery. You think "hey why didn't they go 3600" well first it's already 96lbs. Second, when your at speed its barley working to keep you moving. 28 km of hard racing over Vancouver at 235lbs with gear, and only down 14%.
I love this thing. I love it every km I go. It's a bit of a challenge to manipulate it but gets better every carve and every turn and adds another fun factor. Topped out at 60km(new top for me) and felt like nothing. I'll review at 1000km, prob just more of a love story. If your lucky enough to be local or Vancouver island, it's worth the trip in to eevees. Call ahead and let them know and they will be ready to get you riding. Stoked !!!! Thanks Lucas for making it happen so amazingly !!!
