Well built scooter with PORTABILITY

As a full-grown man who weighs about 180, I had TWO things in my mind when I chose my first scooter. Power and Portability. The final top 2 were Apollo's Explore and Ghost. I chose the Explore. The main reason was portability. Although the dual motor is really really tempting, it's still my first scooter and I wanted myself to be ready before doing anything crazy. Also, the Explore is smaller and lighter than the Ghost. I drive a sedan and it just fits better and I have less trouble putting in the car. I wanted to carry it around ride it in different places.
It's an AMAZING SCOOTER. and Thanks to eevee's and Lukas. I had great customer service.

Great all around scooter

The Apollo Explore is a kick ass all-around entry level scooter. I settled on it b/c after the test ride I knew I wouldn't get bored with it in a week. I love the large deck on this thing. It goes long distances (at least 40km - they say 50 but I haven't tried to max it out yet) and it goes pretty fast. I've gotten up to 53kph on flats and down hills - I weigh in at about 185lbs. It's pretty good up hills too .. but now that i've ridden it for about 200kms I'm wishing I had a bit more power for those hills .. That said, I'm still blasting past the bikers ;) The regen breaks are great at the 3 setting - once you get used to it you barely have to use the disc breaks at all. And, the night lights are a very nice touch! This is not an off-road scooter, but you can take it on grass, gravel and dirt trails.
There are a few issues I'd improve if I could. The folding screw in handle bars always come loose as I ride. There's no way I could see them ever folding on you while riding .. but I'm considering trying to lock-tight them solid b/c i see no need to fold the handle bars - even when i fold the scooter. And, there is a wee bit of wobble when they loosen. Also, there is some annoying clanging that happens with the front tire when you hit cracks/bumps/etc on the road. I've heard other people mention this too. It's no big deal .. but a smoother ride would be nice. The front light is nifty, but it's not gonna light up a dark road well enough if you're travelling at night. And you NEED to be seeing potholes well in advance if you're going at speed. It's an easy fix to mount a good light up top.
If I upgrade to a 5 star ride it will be for more speed/power and a better suspension.
Note: standard bike helmets are only rated for about 22kph .. so if you're gonna ride faster than that, it's a no brainer to get a D.O.T. cert. helmet.
