Gotway, or Begode as we think they now want to be known as, has finally sprung into the suspension wars for real this time. Taking cues from the famous King Song S18 suspension model, we can finally see how Gotway combines its reputation for power and torque with sport suspension. Our guess? An incredibly powerful and comfortable hill climber that will take you everywhere with incredible ease.
Here is what we know about what looks to be the best suspension wheel for the power enthusiasts among us:
- Power: 2800W Torque C38 motor. This is the same motor as the RS Torque uses and if you’ve been luckily enough to be on one of those beasts you know what kind of power it has. This is why we see the Hero as being the true suspension hill climber everyone has been waiting for.
- Speed: Free spin speed is listed as 79km/h so you’ll get some top end speed out of the Hero. Expect to cruise safely up to 65km/h with preset alarms at 30km/h & 45km/h.
- Range: 1800Wh battery. Cruise for up to 150km on a charge. Not the longest range out there but still a great long time of hill climbing fun.
- Suspension! Having another go at a suspension wheel, early looks tell us they’ve got it right this time. Vastly different than Gotway’s first attempt on the EX, here Gotway has put in a robust S18/S20 style suspension that has over 3” (80mm) of vertical play.
- Display: Now a standard feature on this generation of wheels, we get a large, top-mounted display for easy monitoring of speed, battery and temperature.
- Pedals: Those famous Begode spiked pedals! Standard on your new Hero are the pedals everyone knows and loves. You know if you know.
- Tire: Stay nimble on an 18” tire. And Gotway knows where you’re going to take your Hero, giving you a knobby tire standard.
- Style: Famous for their “Samsonite” design aren’t they? Which we all know isn’t a design, it’s a default setting. Finally we get a sleek, stylish and competitively placed look from Gotway. Definitely aggressive and still very much a distinctive Gotway wheel. Just a whole lot sexier.
- Name: Yeah, we’re saying it. Figure out your name Gotway/Begode. Pick a team. Run with it. We’ll even do it for you if you want.
Here at eevee’s we deal with a LOT of electric unicycles, and it’s funny - guess which maker’s wheels come into our shop the least? You got it. Gotway/Begode. Strange how an internet reputation and a real world reputation can be so different. We’ve seen some Gotways that have been incredibly well used and abused and just keep on ticking.
The new Begode Hero has a lot going for it, and if you want to get to the top of that mountain, it’s time to climb the electric future on a Hero.
